Deep South safari

These Red Sea cruises depart from Marsa Ghalib, sailing south to the remote and rewarding reefs of Fury Shoals and St. John’s.

Fury Shoals Exploration
At Fury Shoals, Shaab Claude offers exciting swim-throughs and impressive porite corals. Keep an eye out for whitetip reef sharks and a resident anemone and clownfish community just south of the reef. Abu Galawa Soraya boasts a beautiful coral garden and the wreck of a private sailing boat, now home to abundant glassfish.

Southern Reefs and Wadi Gamal
Dive Shaab Sharm, known for its wall dives and whitetip reef sharks. Oceanic whitetips and silky sharks are sometimes spotted in the blue, and turtles often visit the south side before continuing to Wadi Gamal. Wadi Gamal features flowing banks of vibrant yellow and green soft corals, along with resident angel and butterflyfish. During the right season, large schools of docile jack and tuna frequent the area.

St. John’s Reef System
St. John’s is a collection of small reefs offering some of the most secluded and rewarding diving in the Red Sea. Habili Ali is home to giant gorgonians and black corals, while grey reef, silvertip, and schools of hammerhead sharks may be encountered on the west side. Habili Gafaar is a mass of soft corals teeming with snappers, butterflyfish, and barracudas. Mantas, grey reef, and silvertip sharks can also be seen in the blue.
Gota Kebir is a large reef, famous for its tunnels and south plateau. Jacks, barracudas, and occasionally mantas can be seen here. The tunnels are perfect for novice cave divers.

Gota Soraya is considered by many to be one of the Red Sea’s best wall dives. Overhangs and cracks in the reef wall are full of glassfish and sweepers, with an abundance of corals. Grey reef, silvertip, and hammerhead sharks are often seen here.
